Acupuncture originated in China over 2000 years ago.  The original idea of the body having self-regulating mechanisms which are activated by a life-giving energy called qi is still how traditional Chinese acupuncture is practised widely throughout the world today.

Acupuncture is a natural way to promote health and wellbeing.  During a treatment fine needles are inserted into the skin at specific points on the body. These specific points are considered to help maintain and promote the body’s ability to self-regulate.  Occasionally these mechanisms of self-regulation get thrown out of balance by various aspects of our lives, such as lifestyle and environmental factors.  If left in this state certain symptoms such as pain, low energy or even symptoms of some diseases may ensue.

Research has shown that acupuncture has physiological impacts on the body which are well known to modern medical science.  Again research has shown that in competent hands acupuncture is both safe and effective in treating certain conditions.

Acupuncture is suitable for people from the age of 2 through to the elderly.
